Super Chess Classic Romania 2026 brings 10 of the world’s best chess players to Bucharest in a classical round-robin tournament with $475,000 in total prizes. It is the first classical stage of the Grand Chess Tour 2026, the most prestigious international classical chess circuit.
For nine rounds, played daily at 16:00, the world’s elite face each other in the historic heart of Bucharest. Following Praggnanandhaa’s victory in 2025, Bucharest confirms its status as a “world classic” - a city where chess history is written every year.
A Tournament Founded by a Legend
Garry Kasparov, the legendary 13th World Champion, is the founder of the Grand Chess Tour and will be present in Bucharest from 14 May, attending the early rounds and providing exclusive analysis.
